Types of Counseling Sessions

If you are or intend to enroll in a certificate or degree program at Mesa College, we strongly recommend that you meet regularly with a counselor to discuss your long-term plans. We’re here for you in more ways than one, and students have the option to meet with a counselor in-person, online via Zoom, by telephone or submit quick questions via email.

Drop-in Counseling

Get help from a counselor without an appointment! 10-15 minute drop-in sessions are available in-person or over the phone and are typically utilized to create a 1-2 semester education plan, select classes, address academic probation concerns, obtain prerequisite clearance, and more. Drop-ins are served on a first-come, first-served basis.

To get on the drop-in list, visit General Counseling in-person on the third floor of the Student Services Building or call 619-388-2672 / email: SdMesaFollowup@gmail.com

General Counseling Questions

Have a general non-urgent question for a counselor? Email a Counselor at mesacoun@sdccd.edu (response within 3 business days)

If you require an immediate response or to access your personal academic record, please contact the counseling department via phone to be placed on the drop-in list: 619-388-2672.

Counseling Appointments

One-hour appointments are typically utilized to create your comprehensive education plan, discuss transfer and career planning, submit financial aid appeals, and more.

Counseling Workshops

Pre-Registration Workshop

Two-hour long pre-registration workshops are designed to help first time college students learn about the different educational opportunities available to them. Students will gain an understanding of the various educational pathways, resources to register for classes, and develop a one to two semester abbreviated education plan with counseling faculty. First-time college students must complete the online orientation and have assigned milestones for reading, writing and math prior to attending a workshop. Please note: workshops are conducted through ZOOM, a web-based video conferencing application.
